Students and statistics were on the agenda for Decatur City Council on Tuesday night, thanks to the Bellmont High School statistics class.
Spurred by a meeting with Mayor John Schultz and local resident Larry Isch last January, the 14 students in Kent Arnold's class surveyed students in the fifth through 12 grades at Bellmont middle and high schools.
James Thomas Snyder, 72, of New Haven, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Snyder was born in Fort Wayne on April 10, 1940, to the late Boyd and Mildred (Gause) Snyder.
He graduated from Leo High School in 1958. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy for seven years. Jim was employed with American Electric Power for 35 years before retiring March 21, 2001.
State Rep. Matt Lehman, R-Berne, wrapped up the Decatur Chamber of Commerce's monthly speaker series for the year on Monday with an overview of the Indiana General Assembly's recent legislative session.

PONETO—Adams Central slapped out 10 hits including a home run and three doubles and stopped ACAC opponent Southern Wells by a 12-3 tally in varsity softball action Monday at the Raiders' diamond.
Adams Central never trailed in the game as Coach Cary Blake's crew erupted for six big runs in the top of the first and then added five more in the third. Southern Wells came up with a pair in the bottom of the fourth to avert a possible 10-run mercy game when Baublet doubled in both Raider runs.
Rev. Robert L. Hegnauer, 95, of Berne, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012, at Swiss Village.
He served 42 years in the ministry and retired from the Berne Cross United Church of Christ with nine years of service. He was a WW II and Korean Conflict U.S. Army Chaplain.
Survivors include two sons, one daughter, one sister, and two grandchildren.
Edna Louise Hoffman, 81, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Elkhart.
She was born February 11, 1931, in Berne, to Hugh J. and Hope V. (Hart) Moyer.
On July 30, 1977, she married Dale E. Hoffman in Decatur.
Edna worked as a CNA for more than 30 years prior to her retirement at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Evelyn Louise Miller, 81, died Friday, May 11, 2012, at Swiss Village in Berne.
Evelyn was born November 12, 1930, in Berne, to the late Ralph and Bertha (Spichiger) Miller.
