—Bellmont played for their playoff lives on Friday night against the Heritage Patriots in the baseball sectional semi-final game held at the Teepee pulling out a 4-3 victory against their foes.
Bellmont coach Ben Fawbush commented on his tough Heritage opponents, "I don't know what it is about these guys. We come out against Mississinewa and pound the ball and I didn't think this guy (Conner Sheehan) was any better than what we saw the other day and we couldn't hit consistently."
Veterans-related events in Decatur, Berne and Geneva, along with Willshire, Ohio, have been announced for the Memorial Day weekend.

The Decatur Fire Department, along with the help of area Boy Scouts, will be installing new smoke detectors and batteries in area homes as part of a campaign to provide working detectors for those in need, according to Assistant Fire Chief Jim Hitchcock.
Hitchcock said the department is taking donations to purchase the detectors and batteries, and the department is not asking for money from individuals who are in need of a working detector.
Dorothy G. Liechty, 89, of Berne, died Wednesday, May 23, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born on November 6, 1922, to David O. and Elma (Eicher) Liechty.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 31, at 1 p.m., at MRE Cemetery.
There are no calling or funeral services.
