State’s found funds boost hospital

    The recent discovery of state tax funds found lounging in state coffers instead of being returned to local and county municipalities has been a big factor in the Adams Memorial Hospital's financial picture staying in the black for the year.
    Despite a drop in most categories in April from the previous month, hospital officials reported they have taken in $198,744 more than what they have spent as of the end of April.

Taking names for new security position

    Adams County Sheriff Shane Rekeweg, along with Adams County judges Fredrick A. Schurger and Patrick R. Miller, has announced that the sheriff's department will be accepting applications for the position of court security officer.
    Adams County Council approved the addition of a second security officer last week. John Whitright has handled court security for several years, but is currently responsible for both Adams circuit and superior courts.

City pool opening on tap Saturday

    Due to unseasonably warm temperatures, the city swimming pool will open this Saturday, a week earlier than usual, park and recreation department officials announced.
    Saturday's hours will be 1 to 5 p.m.
    Pool hours for the summer will be as follows:
     Family and lap swim, Monday through Friday, noon to 1 p.m.
     Open swim and lap swim, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 1-5 p.m.

Stars move past Jets in sectional

    FORT WAYNE— A year removed from Adams Central's back-to-back sectional titles, the Jets made an early exit from the tournament last night at the hands of the South Adams Starfires, 8-5.
    The Jets were the team favored to win the sectional this season but perhaps those who assumed that should have looked at this season's resume where the Stars have had AC's number two times before last night and picked up right where they left off.

Lady Jets win first sectional title

    BUTLER—A day after taking out their Adams County foe, the Lady Jets topped that feat with an even greater one: winning their first sectional title ever.
    It took extra innings to do, but the Jets managed to squeak by a talented Bishop Luers team in eight innings, 3-2, after a Lindsey McDougall RBI single ended the game in walk-off fashion for AC.
