Bellmont seniors Allison Gutierrez and Mikala Quinn were selected to the Academic All-State Honorable Mention list at the girls’ basketball banquet last week. The girls were selected for their outstanding play on the court and success in the classroom as well.
MARION—Bellmont's Alexis Harvey finished in the medal round of the 55 meter dash Saturday at the Hoosier State Relays held at Indiana Wesleyan University's Troyer Fieldhouse to be the only participant from Adams County to score.
Harvey posted a 7.51 speed in the finals for seventh place (the top eight advance to the final round) out of 29 runners who had qualified for the indoor state finals event.

The Decatur Fire Department was dispatched at 6:42 p.m. Sunday to the home of Leo Thieme, 6950 E 700 N, in response to a barn fire.
According to a spokesman for the department, the barn was a total loss. There were no injuries.
Firefighters remained on scene until 12:30 a.m. Monday.
No estimate of monetary damage was given.

Allison M. Curtis, 23, of Geneva, died Friday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was the daughter of Thurman Curtis of Wells County and Ann (Robert) Bergman, of Geneva.
Among survivors are her mother and stepfather, Ann and Robert Bergman of Geneva; father Thurman Curtis of Wells County; grandfather Tom Hough of Geneva; grandmother Joyce Hough of Geneva; and sisters Kati Curtis of Geneva, Monica Curtis of Berne, and Shyler Bergman of Berne.
Herman W. Hammond, 87, a lifelong resident of Decatur, died at 5:56 p.m. Thursday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
Herman was very active in the Decatur Church of God, serving in various positions. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 43 of Adams County.
Herman worked with his brothers in Hammond Produce for many years and was the Washington Township Assessor for 12 years.
