Shelter for animals is inhumane, group says

February 23, 2012

    A group of area residents met with the Adams County Commissioners Tuesday regarding concerns they have with the Adams County Animal Shelter.
    Joanna Stanley, along with her husband Joe, and two women who live in the count, brought concerns regarding the number of animals, particularly cats, being euthanized in Adams County, as well as alleged inhumane conditions in which the animals are kept.

Slowed Medicare payments help push hospital into red

    After showing a slight financial advantage for the 2011 year, the Adams Health Network (AHN) started off 2012 in the opposite direction.
    At the February meeting of the AHN Board of Trustees held Wednesday night, it was revealed that during the month of January, the hospital finished with a deficit of $254,275 after having originally been projected to have had a surplus of nearly an equal amount.

Sweeper shop bids taken on March 6

    Bids will be taken on Tuesday, March 6, for the demolition of the former Dwayne's Sweeper Shop (and Holthouse Drug Co.) at the corner of Monroe and Second streets in Decatur.
    The announcement was made at this week's city council meeting by Mayor John Schultz.
    The demolition will follow the removal of asbestos from the building by Air Management Techniques of Muncie, which bid $2,100 for that job.

Braves’ state swimmers eye more records

    After winning their first sectional title in 32 years, a group of five Bellmonters in seven events will invade the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis Friday night for the preliminary round of the IHSAA State Swimming and Diving championships.
    This squad is one of the greatest in school history, and it's definitely the fastest, with six records on the books to date, and a few more will be on the line this weekend at the fast IUPUI Natatorium pool.
