Mayor: Educational exchange could come soon

    Decatur Mayor John Schultz doesn't expect any immediate economic benefits to come from last week's visit by a Chinese delegation, but he does think an educational exchange could occur in the near future.
    Schultz said at this week's city council meeting that mayors he has talked to who have had exchanges with the Chinese say it takes several years before any possible economic development materialize.

Military vehicles, artifacts on block

    AUBURN, Ind. (AP) — World War II memorabilia collectors, tell your family and friends that this weekend offers a golden opportunity to find your Christmas present.
    On Saturday, Auctions American by RM will auction off more than 80 World War II-vintage military vehicles and more than 100 additional military artifacts from the National Military History Center in Auburn.

NAdams board is likely to fill seat

    The North Adams school board is expected to make an appointment that will bring its ranks to seven to start 2013 when the board meets in regular session at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
    Four board members were handed seats in the November general election as the board makes the transition from a five-member panel to a seven-member group. Elected to new four-year terms were current board president Tim Ehlerding and newcomer Mark Bulmahn, who were the top vote-getters in Districts 1 and 2, respectively.

    John M. Butcher, 61, of Geneva, died Thursday.

Reginald K. Myers

December 7, 2012

    Reginald K. Myers, 77, Berne, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012, in Fort Wayne.
    He was born in Adams County to the late Hobart and Marcella (Schlagenhauf) on February 10, 1935.
    Reginald was a member of the Air National Guard 122 Tactical Wing and spent time in France. He worked at Stricks Trailer Factory in the security division. He was a member of the Berne American Legion Post 468 and was an avid sports fan and enjoyed bowling.
    Survivors include his cousins and friends.

DeVona Schearer

    DeVona Schearer, 89, Virginia Beach, Virginia., passed away on December 1, 2012.
    She was born in Indiana to the late Gustav and Alma Kleine.
    DeVona loved to bake and enjoyed going to the beach. Her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
    Among survivors are her three children, Colleen Constant, Brian J. Schearer (Janie) and Shawn Eller (Mike); 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Lorine Reynolds; and her dog, Crickets.

Jets not phased by Starfire lineup changes

    BERNE—SA coach Eric Myers knew his team would be thin at spots against the number one ranked Jets in class A.
    In a last ditch effort to steal some points and ward off some Jet opportunities, the Starfires made a few lineup changes but after a few key AC pins, the Starfires ended up losing a 46-23 decision at the hands of their county rivals in the Stardome on Thursday night.
