The Wayne Generals came calling at the Teepee Wednesday in the traditional season opening game between the Generals and the Bellmont Braves and with the exception of a quick turnover to start the game and another quick miscue to start the third period, Wayne did little wrong enroute to hammering out a 75-45 victory over the Braves.
A delegation from Decatur's potential sister city in China will be visiting here next Monday and Tuesday.
The eight men from Jiaojiang will arrive in Decatur late Sunday night and be greeted. They then will be picked up by a local delegation — including Mayor John Schultz and Adams County Economic Development Director Larry Mackin — early Monday for a tour of the city, with several scheduled stops.
Adams County's unemployment rate remained at a four-year low during October, according to figures released Tuesday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The latest state report showed the county with a jobless rate of 6.6 percent for the month, identical to September's reading and down .7 percent from the local unemployment rate in August.
The names are all too familiar: Katrina, Joplin, Sandy, Henryville in Indiana, among them.
In the wake of these horrific disasters in recent years, many communities have begun to look ahead, to attempt to make plans for dealing with disasters, either natural or man-made.
The plan which will be put together for the City of Decatur of Decatur was unveiled at Tuesday night's city council meeting by Eran Hackman of the Adams County Emergency Management Agency (EMA).
Virginia Madeline Dicke, 82, of Ohio City, Ohio, died at 9:33 a.m., Sunday at the Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert.
She was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio, on January 31, 1930, to the late Frank and Mary (Rinehart) Veit.
On June 5, 1948, she married Donald Willis Dicke; he preceded her in death on August 18, 2008.
Sandra J. Strickler, 77, of Willshire, Ohio, passed away at 6:51 a.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012, at Convoy Care Center in Convoy, Ohio.
Sandra was born in Chattanooga, Ohio, on Friday, April 5, 1935, to the late Kenneth and Gertrude (Baker) Hoblet.
She married Lester L. Strickler on October 24, 1953, in Chattanooga; he passed away on March 25, 1995.
Sandra was a homemaker and had been in nursing for 22 years for Dr. Merrill Osborn.

COLUMBIA CITY — Despite offering one of the the youngest and most inexperienced opening meet lineups in his 25 years as the Bellmont head wrestling coach, Brent Faurote was smiling after the meet as his Braves rocked NHC foe Columbia City 51-19 Tuesday.
"Four freshmen in the lineup and three of them go out and get wins. That's not going to happen a lot this year, but there will be times when we do have three or four freshmen in the lineup," said Faurote.
Decatur Mayor John Schultz has proclaimed Friday, November 30, as Cora Mae McCormick Day.
Cora McCormick was a Decatur resident, born November 30, 2009 to Ben and Kristine (Brite) McCormick. She died unexpectedly five days later when she suddenly stopped breathing in her mother’s arms. It was later determined Cora died from an undetected congenital heart defect.
Decatur City Hall will be closed Thursday through Monday for Thanksgiving.
There will be no collection of garbage on Thursday, but both the Thursday and regular Friday routes will be run Friday.
There will be no leaf pickup Thursday. Officials said Friday, November 30, will be the final day for leaf collection here.
The city's compost site is always open.

Bellmont High School will be presenting Elton John's and Tim Rice’s Aida (school edition) on December 1 and 2.
Aida is a contemporary musical take on a grand classic tale of the timeless bond between an enslaved Nubian princess and an Egyptian soldier, a news release said.
