KINGSLAND—Norwell senior Josh Vanmeter put up 20 of his 24 points on the Jets in the second half to lead the Knights past the Jets at the Castle on Saturday night, 77-42.
Vanmeter made the opening field goal straight off the tip cashing in on a driving lay-up but then Norwell went cold for the next four minutes. Adams Central took advantage of several Knights’ miscues jumping out to a 12-2 lead before Vanmeter would break the four-minute slump with a smooth drive and score.

BERNE—While millions frantically shopped for good deals on the day after Thanksgiving, the South Adams girls basketball team frantically forged a come-from-behind win against the Bluffton Tigers on their home court, 43-41.
Sandra L. Liechty, 69, of Berne, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Swiss Village Nursing Center.
She was born in Adams County on December 4, 1942, to the late Gerald G. and Evelyn L. (Kohls) Strickler.
Sandra married E. Steven Liechty on January 9, 1960.
Emilda H. Gerber, 83, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012, in Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Jay County on January 23, 1929, to the late Daniel and Florence (Freund) Schindler.
Emilda married Clyde L. Gerber on July 10, 1948; he died on April 29, 2006.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and worked as a homemaker.
Raymond B. Schultz, 90, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
He was born in Adams County on October 30, 1922, to the late Julius C. and Isabel (Bernard) Schultz.
Raymond married M. Maxine Steigmeyer on May 6, 1947.
He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur and of its Holy Name Society, and was also a member of the Moose Lodge 1311. He retired in 1981 from Teeple Truck Line after 32 years of service.
The Decatur Sculpture Walk committee has announced that People’s Choice voting continues through the end of November. Ballots for your favorite sculpture can be picked up and cast at the Adams Public Library in Decatur or the Adams County Community Foundation office.
The People’s Choice Award will be announced in December. Other prizes will be awarded for the Mayor’s Choice Award, the David Smith Award, and the Decatur Sculpture Walk Committee Award.

Last week's demolishing of a downtown building stirred considerable interest in these parts. And why not? When was the last time such a large building was demolished in Decatur?

Magdalena S. Eicher, 80, of rural Geneva, died Wednesday at her residence.
Frank Sardella, 86 of Decatur, died on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Laurels of Shanehill Nursing Home in Rockford, Ohio.
Frank was born in Beaver Lake, New Jersey, on April 17, 1926, to the late Albert and Paulino (Venturino) Sardella.
He married Marjorie L. Gase Stetler on November 18, 1972.; she preceded him in death on October 6, 2012.
