Two Adams Central teachers, Holly Mishler and Karen Flesch, have gone above and beyond to show their students that even in a small community like Monroe, big things can happen.
The pair recently collaborated on a children's book called "Grandma's Garden," a story about loss and grief, which can be a confusing time for many, especially children who may have a difficult time discussing the emotions they are experiencing.
Robert L. Brown, 72, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital.
He was born in Adams County on August 13, 1940, to the late Clifford R. and Dorothy M. (Reidt) Brown.
Robert married Judy Nuzum in August of 1977; she died on August 12, 2011. He then married Edith Northup on September 15, 2012.
Contested races for two seats on the South Adams School’s board of education will be settled during the Nov. 6 general election.
Amy Orr, who currently holds a board seat from District 3, filed for the board’s at-large seat, setting up a three-way race with Debra Gerber and Gresham Bearss. Orr’s current term isn’t due to expire until 2014. The at-large seat is currently held by Steve Dobler, who is not seeking a new term.
Marlene K. Clem, 51, of Decatur, died on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Lutheran Hospital.
Among survivors are her husband, Chuck Clem of Decatur; daughter, April Marie (Jeremiah Gifford) Clem of Decatur; and son, Nathaniel William (Amanda) Clem of Bluffton.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, at Beery Cemetery with Molly Farthing officiating.
Harriet E. Hethcote, 97, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012, at Chalet Village Health Care Center in Berne.
She was born in Geneva on Monday, September 27, 1915.
She married William E. Hethcote in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Terry D. Ogg, 64, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital.
He was born in Adams County on Saturday, January 3, 1948, to the late Max E.Ogg and Helen J. (Owens) Ogg.
Terry married Joan M. Burkley on November 3, 1979 in Decatur; she survives in Decatur.
He served in the United States Navy during Viet Nam from 1967-1971. He was a member of The Bridge Community Church in Decatur, the American Legion Post 43, the NRA, and the VFW 6236.
LaMar E. (Bud) Taylor, 69, Madison, Miss., formerly of Decatur, died Saturday.
Arrangements are pending at Natchez Trace Funeral Home, Madison.

After drawing Tipton once again in the opener, then meeting North Miami in the championship for a rematch of last season's sectional championship, AC needed only to win over the Warriors to earn a second shot at Sheridan at the regional level after they defeated Tri-Central.
