     The Northeast Hoosier Conference has released its all-conference lists for the 2012 boys tennis season featuring four Bellmont Braves making the cut.

Colts coach has leukemia

    INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Colts coach Chuck Pagano has been diagnosed with leukemia and is expected to be hospitalized six to eight weeks as he undergoes treatment.
    He will be replaced on an interim basis by offensive coordinator Bruce Arians.
    Team owner Jim Irsay made the announcement Monday during a somber and sometimes emotional news conference at the team complex.

James Kenneth Herndon

    James “Jim” Kenneth Herndon, 85, of Bluffton, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012, at River Terrace Estates in Bluffton.
    He was born on September 20, 1927, in Huntington County, to Elijah J. and Mary L. (Holmes) Herndon.
    On March 26, 1949, he married Rita E. Geis in Decatur; she passed away on February 17, 1966.
    Jim then married Miriam J. (Ginter) Sommer in Decatur on March 4, 1967; she passed away on April 29, 1996.

Crisis Intervention Team eyed here

    Some members of local law enforcement will soon be better equipped to interact with individuals struggling with mental illness as they partner with Park Center to develop the new Crisis Intervention Team (CIT).
    The new program in Adams County is modeled after the CIT program in Fort Wayne, which was instituted after a stand-off altercation with a mentally ill man, who was subsequently killed by police.

Logjam removal will cost state near $95,000

    The Linkel Co. of Batesville, Indiana, has been awarded the contract to remove a huge logjam from under the Wendell Macklin Bridge in Decatur.
    Linkel was the low bidder for the project as the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) this week received bids on logjam removals at eight different locations in northeast Indiana.
    Linkel bid $94,754, while Yardberry Landscaping of Anderson bid $98,429 and Pioneer & Associates of Fort Wayne entered a bid of $176,610.

Yvonne Jones

    Yvonne "Sue" Jones, 64, of Willshire, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at her residence due to natural causes.
    Sue was born on Friday, January 23, 1948, in Decatur, to the late Walter and Sally (South) Suman.
    She married Greg Jones on October 22, 1983, in Willshire; he survives.

Adams Central opened up the four-game ACAC extravaganza in Muncie with a lopsided 41-24 victory over the Southern Wells Raiders.
The Jets jumped out of the gate on their opening possession when quarterback Dalton Combs connected with sophomore Carter Sharp on a fourth and two that turned into six points for AC on a 36-yard romp. The kick was botched for the Jets.

Helen Virginia Kidd

    Helen Virginia Kidd, 97, of Decatur, died on Saturday at  Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    Among survivors are her son, William Eugene "Billy" Kidd of Celina, Ohio.
    A private family visitation was held at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, and there was no service.
 

Haunted tours expanding

    Haunted Decatur Wagon Tours will return for Callithumpian 2012 with improved and expanded tours, it has been announced.
    The tours were featured as a one weekend event in 2011, but due to the demand for tickets last season it has grown to three weekends this year, the Callilthumpian Committee announced. Camelot Carriage Rides of Decatur will again provide the wagon and two horses for the rides.

Florence Lorton

    Florence Lorton, 91, of Berne, died Friday at Chalet Village.
