Charlene J. Davis, 75, of Decatur, died at her residence on Thursday, October 11, 2012.
She was born in Letts, Ind., on January 10, 1937, to the late Lawrence W. and Ida H. (Blain) Pearl.
On July 19, 1958 she married Carl R. Davis; he survives in Decatur.
Charlene was a school teacher for 29 years with Fort Wayne Community Schools and was a homemaker. She was a member of the ISTA and Allen County Retired Teachers.
Thelma Lee Flueckiger, 86, of Berne, died on Wednesday at Swiss Village.
Among survivors is her husband, Jerome Flueckiger.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at the Swiss Village Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, also at the chapel.
Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Geneva.
Joan Hodle, 86, Decatur, died Thursday at Woodcrest Retirement Community.
Arrangements are pending at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home.
Bellmont senior Sarah Norder finally earned a point on her last service of the match against Jay County to the cheering of the Squaw faithful at the Teepee Thursday night in a three-set victory on cruise control 25-10, 25-14, 25-13.
Norder has been out the entire season with a knee injury missing out on her last year in the program but last night was senior night and the Squaw had enough mobility to make an appearance in the serving game on four occasions in the win.
Greyson P. Reed, 7, Madison St., is in critical condition in the pediatric ICU unit at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne this afternoon after having struck by a pickup truck on 13th St. around 7:15 a.m. today.
Police said the driver of the pickup, Josh Butler, did not appear to be speeding and has not been charged.
It was still dark at the time of the accident, which occurred near the Madison St. intersection.
Berniece M. Brittsan, 92, of Wren, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
She was born in Monroeville on Sunday, March 28, 1920, to the late Frank H. and Ethel M. (Van Buskirk) Laudahn.
Berniece married Russell D. "Pete" Brittsan on November 19, 1939, in Monroeville; he passed away on September 24, 1994.
Robert L. Clark Sr., 79, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012, in the comfort of his home.
He left behind a wife, brother, seven children, 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by us all.
In loving memory of Robert L. Clark Sr., the family and Midwest Funeral Home and Cremation Society of Fort Wayne will conduct a memorial on Saturday, October 13, from 10 a.m.-noon, at the Church of Decatur Lighthouse, 8727 US 27, with a luncheon after the service.
FORT WAYNE—With only the Bellmont quad left before sectionals, Adams Central tangled with North Side in a non-conference battle on Wednesday night earning a four-set victory over the Redskins 26-24, 25-12, 25-10, 25-13.
The Lady Jets found themselves on the wrong end of a slow start in set one that they could not recover from combined with the good play of North Side out of the gate. AC would keep the set close until finally the Lady Redskins pulled out the victory needing an extra point to do so in a 26-24 set one victory.
"We are swimming over here," Adams County Clerk Gayla Reinhart said at 1 p.m. Wednesday, a little over halfway through the second day of early voting in Adams County.
The voting began at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and when it had concluded seven hours later, 103 people had cast ballots.
By 1 p.m. Wednesday, 50 more people had voted in the clerk's office in the county courthouse.
Tuesday also was the last day to register to in the upcoming presidential election.
Preble Assistant Fire Chief Mike Werling said Wednesday that upon arriving at Tuesday night's fire that destroyed a barn on the Richard Loshe property off Winchester Rd. at CR 900N, fire was blazing through the roof of the structure.
The barn was filled with building materials and firewood, and some rabbits also were lost. Loshe raises rabbits.
