A seven year-old Decatur youth, Greyson P. Reed, W. Madison Street, was listed in fair condition this morning at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne where he is a patient after being struck by a pickup truck at 7:16 a.m. Thursday on N. 13th Street.
The condition listed today by Parkview officials is a huge improvement as the Northwest Elementary School student was initially listed in critical condition Thursday afternoon, suffering from head and back injuries.
Eighteen candidates seeking 10 county and political offices participated Thursday evening in a Candidates' Night event hosted by the Decatur Rotary Club. The event, which allowed each of the candidates four minutes to talk about themselves and their candidacies, was broadcast live countywide over WZBD radio.
Speaking during the event were countywide candidates for coroner, recorder, auditor, treasurer, circuit court judge, two seats on the board of county commissioners and three at-large seats on the Adams County Council.
The Decatur Walmart store recently donated several $50 gift cards to teachers at Northwest Elementary School to help provide much-needed classroom supplies that teachers often pay for out of their own pocket.
Decatur Walmart Manager Greg Farmer said the company started the program four years ago after seeing teachers buying classroom supplies for students with their own money due to budget constraints in the school systems.
Ruby V. Blazer, 93, Decatur, died Thursday at Adams MEmorial Hospital.

Charlene J. Davis, 75, of Decatur, died at her residence on Thursday, October 11, 2012.
She was born in Letts, Ind., on January 10, 1937, to the late Lawrence W. and Ida H. (Blain) Pearl.
On July 19, 1958 she married Carl R. Davis; he survives in Decatur.
Charlene was a school teacher for 29 years with Fort Wayne Community Schools and was a homemaker. She was a member of the ISTA and Allen County Retired Teachers.
Thelma Lee Flueckiger, 86, of Berne, died on Wednesday at Swiss Village.
Among survivors is her husband, Jerome Flueckiger.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at the Swiss Village Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, also at the chapel.
Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Geneva.
Joan Hodle, 86, Decatur, died Thursday at Woodcrest Retirement Community.

Bellmont senior Sarah Norder finally earned a point on her last service of the match against Jay County to the cheering of the Squaw faithful at the Teepee Thursday night in a three-set victory on cruise control 25-10, 25-14, 25-13.
Norder has been out the entire season with a knee injury missing out on her last year in the program but last night was senior night and the Squaw had enough mobility to make an appearance in the serving game on four occasions in the win.
