Bellmont varsity football coach Larry Getts noted today that his offensive coordinator is Chad Taylor and his defensive coordinator Marty Ballard, a veteran BHS assistant coach.
Also from last year's staff, Greg Koons will be co-special teams coach along with Matt Hunter. Jerry Hurst, an assistant coach and trainer last year, is back as an assistant coach and former player John Shifferly is on the Getts' staff.
Dan Boocher is freshman coordinator.
In the recent Ethel May Ladies Open Golf tourney, the Cross Creek Ladies Golf Association honored veteran Decatur Golfer Sue Kalver.
The tourney, named for Ethel May Sanmann, one of the early stalwarts for women's golf in Adams County, honors a woman golfer each year for her contribution to the sport in Decatur. The ladies association voted this year to honor Kalver.
A fire that started in a building separate from the main structure on the Elkhart Products Corp. site in Geneva caused considerable damage inside that building late Tuesday night and reportedly caused minor hand burns to one employee.
An early-morning storm today brought Decatur its biggest rainfall in weeks: .39 of an inch.
That certainly isn't a lot, but it's the most rain to fall here since .34 of an inch on July 19. The city has now received .96 of an inch of rain since June 24, according to city weather station records.
The storm, packing lots of lightning and thunder, moved into the city around 3:30 a.m.
