The new Villa Lanes will conduct Youth League bowling registration on two dates: Friday, Sept. 9, 6 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 10, 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
Decatur's long time bowling center closed three years ago. Local business men purchased the business recently and hired Mike Miller as the new manger. Renovations have been ongoing and the upgraded house is slated for a Sept. 1 opening.
Youth divisions will include Bumper, Bantam, and Junior, ages 5 to 20.
The Bellmont Girls Golf Invitational was captured by Norwell Wednesday at the Cross Creek Golf Course with the Knights taking just 381 shots to outdistance second place Canterbury with 393.
Finishing in third place was Angola at 400 as they squeezed out fourth place Bellmont by one stroke at 401. Other participating teams included Bishop Luers 416, and Leo 435.
Two people, possibly in their 60s, died in a house fire early this morning at 720 Elm St. in Decatur.
Decatur Fire Chief Les Marckel reported at the scene that the bodies were so badly burned that it will take an autopsy, which was under way today at the morgue in Adams Memorial Hospital, to determine the sex of the victims.
No children lived in the home,. Two dogs also died in the blaze.
