Larry W. Moore, 60, of Decatur, died at home on Monday.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, Decatur.
Tournament action in both the Decatur Girls Junior and Senior Leagues began Monday night with a pair of games in both divisions.
In the Senior League, Geimer's Construction belted out 13 hits including a two-run homer by Taylor Kuhnle in the fifth and they handed Barker and Sons a 19-1 defeat while in the other contest, Mind's Eye Graphics also recorded a double-digit victory taking out the First Bank of Berne by an 18-8 count.
Regular season champion Erie Haven dominated second place finisher McIntire Heating in the winner's bracket game of the double-elimination Sandy Koufax League tournament played Monday night at Worthman Field.
In action in the losers' bracket semis at Monroe's Don Ray Memorial Park, Corner Deli of Monroe scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 10-9 win over Bluffton Elks, and Courtesy Motors of Decatur stopped South Adams 9-3 in the second game.
Berne City Council on Monday officially signed a contract with LICA LLC for continued improvements to the city's sanitary sewer collection system. The local firm's bid of $789,627 was accepted in April as the lowest of nine submitted for the work. The engineering estimate for the project was $925,000.
A lightning strike during a storm damaged a control unit on a computer in the Geneva branch of the Adams Public Library System on Monday, blew a fuse and knocked out the site's elevator, air conditioner, and Internet and Wii services.
The incident happened around 1 p.m., branch director Rose Bryan said.
Geneva firefighters responded to the alarm, but there was no fire.
The Adams County Commissioners on Monday accepted the bid of Jutte Excavating of Fort Recovery, Ohio, for $321,910.93 to rehabilitate and restore the covered bridge near Ceylon.
The project will start soon, grant administrator Dave Milligan of Portland said, since June of 2012 is the deadline to have the work done.
County Engineer Tim Barkey said he will help provide oversight of the project.

Esther C. Friar, 91, formerly of Willshire, Ohio, died on Friday in Van Wert In-Patient Hospice Center at Van Wert, Ohio.
She was born in Adams County on August 17, 1919 to Oscar and Amanda Baumgartner Steiner.
Among survivors are three daughters: Mrs. Leon (Rita) Byer of Willshire; Anne Schoeff of Greenville, Ohio; and Kaye Hartman of Van Buren, Indiana; one stepson, Jeffrey Friar of Hartford City, Indiana; and one stepdaughter, Cheryl Powell of Montpelier, Indiana.
Calvin W. Toney, 77, of Decatur, died Friday in the nursing center at Woodcrest Retirement Community.
He was born in Alabama to Albert E. and Myrtle M. Stover Toney.
Among survivors are three brothers; five sisters, including Linda Adams of Decatur; and many nieces and nephews, including Tim Adams of Decatur and Kerry Adams of Willshire, Ohio.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Aurora Cemetery of Etowah County, Alabama.
WAPAKONETA, O. — The Decatur Thunderbirds brought the big bats this past weekend to the Moon City Classic Baseball Tournament, taking the 16-team tourney with a perfect 6-0 record.
The Decatur Baseball Association team slugged out 98 hits to the 16 of the opposition and won by the run rule in five of the six games. The T-Birds had only 19 innings of at-bats in the six games. The only close game was a 10-7 win over Anna (Ohio) Rockets in the third game on Saturday. The Birds lashed out 12 hits to win that game.
The Decatur Football League will conduct registration for its 17th season on two dates: Saturday,July 30, 7 to 11 a.m., and on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 5-7 p.m. near the entrance of the Bellmont baseball field.
Physical exams, which are required for competitors, will be held on Saturday, July 30 only, from 8-10 a.m. and will cost $10.
