The streak is over!
The Bellmont Braves dispatched a 14-game losing streak by the wayside Tuesday night in the opening round of the class 3A sectional 22 boys basketball tournament at the Teepee by outlasting Maconaquah, a team that entered the tourney with a 14-6 record, by a 59-57 count in overtime.
BERNE — Bluffton built a 10-point lead over South Adams going into the fourth quarter of their Sectional 38 opener Tuesday, then Tigers' coach Kevin Leising pulled the plug as his squad successfully kept the ball away from the SA defenders in an eventual 50-31 victory at the Stardome.
The win puts the 14-6 Tigers in the 7:30 p.m. semi-final game against 2-18 Woodlan Friday night. Adams Central, 13-7, will take on state 2A power Bishop Luers, 16-4, in the 6 p.m. semi-final.
"For the most part, nothing has really changed overnight except we had a little water on E. Monroe St.," Decatur Street/Sanitation Superintendent Jeremy Gilbert said at 7:45 a.m. today.
E. Monroe St. was passable this morning and no water was on Monmouth and Piqua roads leading to Bellmont high and middle schools. US 224 at Jackson St. remained closed, however.
Two people were rescued from floodwaters in the past two hours: one in Adams County today and one in Jay County yesterday.
