Knights, Tigers have 4th period troubles in losses

    Three Wells County teams vying for boys regional basketball titles fell short in their bid to advance to the IHSAA semi-state this weekend with both Bluffton and Norwell faltering in the fourth period to be eliminated. Southern Wells fell to Rockville 56-39 in a Class A Regional game at Frankfort.
    Bluffton saw Tipton post a 16-10 advantage in the fourth period to earn a 47-43 win over the Tigers while at Blackford, Harding tipped  Norwell 53-52 by erasing a fourth period Knight lead.

DDD March Challenge slated

    The annual Daily Democrat “March Challenge” NCAA picking contest will he held as usual this year, the 25th year for the contest.
    Those who want to participate should fill out a bracket, which will be available on line, or write down the names of the winners each round, and email it to sports@decaturdailydemocrat.com, or mail to the Democrat Sports Dept., 141 S. 2nd St., Decatur, or bring it to the front office.
    The prize again will be a dinner for four at Arnold’s Drive-In in Decatur.

Lawmakers get rude welcome

    The two Republican lawmakers who represent Adams County in the Indiana General Assembly were given a rude welcome Saturday morning during a town hall meeting at the Decatur public library.

AC: Do it yourself and save

    Adams Central officials gave an impromptu lesson at the March school board meeting that could have been entitled "How to Save More Than $470,000 in Two Years."
    The way to save, they indicated, is not to spend so much in the first place.
    The lesson involved an idea that AC Athletic Director Rick Minnich and AC Middle School Principal Aaron McClure had to create temporary classrooms inside the school's large physical education gymnasium, according to AC Superintendent Mike Pettibone.

    Janet S. Adams, 77, of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, was born to eternal life on March 9, 2011.

Mary R. Case

March 14, 2011

    Mary R. Case, 83, of Decatur, went home to her Lord at 2:10 a.m. Friday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
    She was born on August 17, 1927 in Wren, Ohio.
    She married Max O. Case on April 15, 1947, in Monroeville; he passed away on October 15, 2006.
    She retired from the former CTS Corp. plant in Berne in 1989 after 27 years of service.
