Samuel M. "Sam" Wickey, 73, of Berne, died Wednesday at home.
He was born on March 2, 1937, in Adams County to Dan S. and Mary C. Schwartz Wickey.
Among survivors are his wife. Amanda; four sons, Sam Wickey of Denver, Colorado; Dan Wickey of Hutchinson, Kansas; and Henry and Paul Wickey of Linn Grove; and six daughters, Mrs. Tim (Ruth) Gage and Marie Bauman of Decatur; Susan Cummings of Alabama; Mrs. Stuart (Amanda) Bailey of Geneva; Mrs. Kenny (Kate) Lairson of Berne; and Mary Fryback of Fort Wayne.

That's how Adams Central, thanks to Keaton Fiechter's huge final goal, assured itself of a winning 2010-11 season on Tuesday night with a 60-58 decision over gritty Southwood.
"They are all one match away from being a state placer. It's a neat thing to experience the parade of champions and wrestle Friday night, but they are all one match away from wrestling all day on Saturday, and we want that experience for as many as we can," stated Bellmont coach Brent Faurote at the BHS wrestling room Tuesday afternoon.
A Decatur man who graduated from the United States Naval Academy and spent 10 years as a naval aviator has announced his candidacy to run as a Republican for the Decatur City Council's at-large seat in this year's election.
Cameron Collier, 31, is a 1997 Adams Central High School graduate and now works here as a financial consultant with Jehl and Kreilach Financial Management firm.
Collier, who was a lieutenant in the Navy, is on the waiting list to be a lieutenant-commander in the Naval Reserve.
Berne Mayor John Minch delivered his eighth and final State of the City address on Tuesday during a noon luncheon sponsored by the Berne Chamber of Commerce.
Minch is in the last year of his second term as Berne mayor and has indicated he will not seek re-election this year. The lone announced mayoral candidate to date, former council president Bill McKean, was in attendance at Tuesday's meeting.

Cameron Collier announced late this morning that he will seek the Republican nomination for the at-large seat on Decatur City Council.
The seat currently is held by Democrat Barbara Engle.
Theodore "Toby" Schwartz entered Adams Circuit Court on Monday afternoon with a 100-year prison sentence and left about an hour later with 29 years added on.
Schwartz, 41, a former resident of Geneva and Berne, was given a century behind bars last year in Allen County for rape, burglary, and other crimes in the fall of 2009 that resulted from his lengthy use of methamphetamine.
Government-as-business was the theme of this year's State of the County address by Commissioner Doug Bauman, who declared, "It's all about sales. It's making people feel good about doing business" with government.
He delivered his talk at a luncheon meeting of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce in Woodcrest Retirement Community, with some 60 people attending.
Senior Bellmont guard Dana Kaczmarek was named to the All-NHC girls basketball squad, first team, it was announced Monday afternoon by the conference athletic directors.
Kaczmarek, who scored 11.1 points per game this season, was the only Bellmonter on the 10-memmber first team, which was dominated by Norwell and Homestead. Each had three selections among the first 10..
Bellmont senior center Madison Schultz was named to the second team. She averaged 10.8 points per game for Bellmont, plus 6.8 rebounds.
