Union members from Adams County and the surrounding area descended on Decatur Saturday morning to share with local lawmakers their views about the so-called "Right-To-Work" legislation that is certain to be debated in the Indiana General Assembly beginning next month.
Five people in accompanying photo were involved in the latest Stockings for Soldiers project in Adams County.
Local residents bought and donated hundreds of varied items in two weeks to fill 78 large Christmas stockings that were mailed to U.S. military personnel in Iraq and/or Afghanistan.
The items included hard candy, chewing gum, playing cards, lip balm, sunscreen, shampoo, and personal care products.
The Geneva Town Council made year-end appointments at its regular monthly meeting this week.
The council leadership will remain the same in 2012. Dick Clutter was reappointed as council president, Jim Timmons as vice president and Doug Milligan as a council member.
The fire and police departments will also remain unchanged . John Patch was reappointed as the Geneva Fire Department chief, while Gabe Schwartz and Sam Bisel will stay on as assistant fire chiefs.
A rock-solid second half by the Bellmont Braves led by a 19-point game performance by Payton Selking found the Braves posting a 43-39 victory over Heritage at the Teepee on Saturday.
Bellmont took just 15 shots in the second half but made 10 of them as they erased a 23-18 lead that Heritage owned at halftime to go up 31-29 at the end of the third period. In that stanza, Selking danced his way through the Heritage trees for a pair of baskets but perhaps his biggest shot of the night came just before the horn sounded.
In the second match of the NHC meet between East Noble at Bellmont Saturday at the Teepee, BHS sophomore sub 132-pounder Diego Hutker scored the first takedown against Knights' senior Nick Yoquelet.
