Jobless numbers in Adams County rose slightly during October to their highest level since July, according to statistics released Tuesday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
The annual Cops for Kids event to help needy children in Adams County buy gifts at Christmastime is under way, with monetary donations being collected and names of children up to age 12 being assembled, according to an announcement from Adams County Chapter 127 of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Applications for children to shop during Cops for Kids are available at the Decatur Police Department, 521 N. Third St., The deadline to apply is Monday, December 5.
Despite a shift that sent five wrestlers up a weight division, Bellmont scored six falls, took two forfeits and won nine of 12 matches to dump NHC foe Columbia City 58-15 in the season opener Tuesday night at the Teepee.
It was also a somber night as Bellmont dedicated a new wrestling mat in honor of the late John Friedt, one of the organizers of the Decatur Wrestling Club and a coach at Bellmont for over 30 years. The mat will be used for both varsity and middle school meets.
