South Adams dominates invitational, AC takes 4th

    BERNE—South Adams cross country fortunes improved dramatically last Saturday as they hosted their annual Invitational and won the boys race by placing four of their top five runners in the top 10 and earned a second place finish in the girls competition.

White guilty of murder

    A 12-member jury in Wells Circuit Court at Bluffton found a Bluffton man, Tyler White, guilty of murder on Monday for the shooting death of his estranged wife, Amy Meyer White, a former Berne resident, last October.
    "We finally got what we wanted. We wanted the truth to be told and I think that's what we got," said grieving, but relieved Mike Meyer of Berne, the father of the victim, according to this morning's edition of the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette.

Three hurt in crash at Red Gold

    A two-vehicle accident at 6:50 p.m. Monday injured three occupants of a SUV and closed traffic on U.S. 27 in Geneva for over an hour, according to a report this morning from the Geneva Police Department.

Tickets available for cooking school

    Ron Storey, publisher of the Decatur Daily Democrat, said this morning that tickets are still available for the Taste of Home Cooking School to be held Wednesday in Erekson Theatre at Bellmont High School.
    Tickets. priced at $9, may be purchased at the Democrat office until 4:30 Wednesday and at the door from 4:45 pm until the 6:30 start of the show.
    All attendees will receive a free goodie bag with items from local and national sponsors, along with a free one-year subscription to Taste of Home magazine.

    Johanna C. Rafert Buuck, 97, a former Decatur resident, died on Monday at Van Wert In-Patient Hospice Center of Van Wert. Ohio.
     Funeral arrangements are pending at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.
