Alvin Hackman, 69, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Alvin was born on January 25, 1941, in Adams County to the late Anslem and Christine Hackman.
On August 3, 1989, he married Kathy Patrick.
Alvin worked for Prestress Services of rural Decatur as a truck driver and trucking supervisor and retired after 25 years of service.
William S. “Bill” Gravens, 82, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010, at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Bill was born on August 30, 1928, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to Sanford and Ethel (Mansfield) Gravens.
Bill retired after 27 years of service from Kroger Distribution in Fort Wayne.
He served his country during World War II and the Korean War.
Andres V. Villegas, 8, of Union City, Indiana, died Saturday in a traffic accident in Mercer County, Ohio, on the Indiana-Ohio state line road.
He was born to Pedro Vela of Matamoros in Tamaulipas State, Mexico, and Yessica Villegas of Union City, Indiana, who survive.
Other survivors are his twin brother, Pedro V. Villegas of Union City; one sister, Clarissa Vela of Union City; and many relatives in the Geneva area.
Bellmont won six matches and took three forfeits, and Adams Central took five wins, including at overtime victory at 152, in the annual showdown between the neighboring schools Tuesday at the Teepee as the Braves scored a 53-22 wrestling victory.
"We wanted to come in here and get six, and we got five," stated Adams Central coach Doug Schultz, whose Jets slipped to 16-5 with the loss. "All in all, it was a pretty good dual meet, enjoyable to watch."
BERNE—County rivals Bellmont and South Adams met in the pool at South Adams Tuesday night with the Braves and Squaws both recording solid victories over the Starfires.
The Braves notched a 119-66 triumph winning 10 of the 12 events, including all three relays, while the Squaws posted a nearly identical win with a 115-71 decision over the Starfish as they took seven of the 12 events scheduled.

Jay Gould, who has spent some 45 years working with local farmers, will be stepping down as executive director of the Farm Services Agency (FSA) office in Decatur after December 30. He was given a big sendoff during a five-hour open house in the FSA office on Tuesday.
Large numbers of visitors stopped in to congratulate and to thank him, plenty of refreshments were available, and lots of old photographs and other memorabilia from more than four decades of public service were on display.
