Squaws weather Jets’ run, then roll to 57-30 victory

    MONROE-After his team had coughed up the ball on four straight possessions in the third period which led to 10 straight points for the Adams Central Jets, Bellmont coach Tory Fuelling's message to his Squaws was simple when he called a timeout after AC had cut a 13 point BHS lead to just three.
    "Girls you gotta take care of the ball."

Coaches report changes for tonight’s BHS-AC mat meet

    In the Bellmont-Adams Central dual wrestling meet slated for tonight at Bellmont, there are a few lineup changes.
    Adams Central freshman Adam Cook is back in the Jets' lineup at 103 pounds and he'll be facing Bellmont's Jordan Richards. Bellmont's Anthony Stebing is out at 145 and sophomore Jacob Bergman will take his place.

     The stark realities of war hit home in September when Staff Sgt. Phillip Jenkins of Decatur became the first, and to date the only, Adams County serviceman to give his life in the ongoing American conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
    Jenkins' death was voted by employees of the Decatur Daily Democrat to be the number one news story of 2010.

Waste district won’t pass on its rise in cost

    The cost incurred by the Adams County solid waste district for the hauling and disposal of trash at the Waste Management landfill in Jay County will increase slightly in 2011, but those costs will not be passed on to solid waste customers.

    Helen E. Glass, 87, formerly of Liberty Center in Wells County, died Sunday at Heritage Pointe Retirement Community.
    She was born to Frank and Flora L. Osborn Ware.
    Among survivors are two sons, Norman Glass of rural Berne and Ervin Glass of Fort Wayne, and one daughter, Mrs. Don (Karen) Hatch of Marion.

    William S. Gravens, 82, of Decatur, died Monday in Roudebush Medical Center at Indianapolis.
    Funeral arrangements are pending at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur.

    Alvin Hackman, 69, formerly of Decatur, died Monday at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
