GARRETT — Bellmont's full-court press baffled the host Railroaders in the third period Wednesday and the result was a 22-5 run, setting up the 68-53 Braves' non-conference victory.
"We talked at halftime how the first four minutes of the third quarter are the most important of the game," stated Garrett coach John Bodey.
North Adams School Board on Tuesday approved Andy Heim as head coach of the Bellmont High School boys track team.
The board also approved Mark Okoniewski as high school assistant baseball coach, Gavin Hisner as high school assistant boys track coach, and Daniel Porter as high school assistant rifle coach.
In addition, Sarah Krey was named a volunteer with the high school girls' basketball program.
In an attempt to stem the tide of red ink in the Emergency Medical Services budget, Adams Health Network (AHN) trustees voted to approve a proposal put forth by hospital administrators that will reduce the number of ambulances staffed in Adams County.
Adams Central Community Schools is less than halfway through a $10 million construction and renovation project, but talk has begun about another large-scale plan: building an athletic building, dubbed a community center, for multi-purpose uses.
At Tuesday's AC school board meeting, no decisions were made, but a lengthy and vigorous back-and-forth discussion ensued about the idea that could cost several million dollars. The board made no decisions because of concerns over the cost of another project so close to the current one.
