BERNE — South Adams Athletic Director Mike Pries announced today that 129 SA students are involved in winter sports activities at South Adams High School
Wrestling led the way with 31 participants while cheerleading was next at 24, followed by boys swimming with 22. Boys basketball has 18 in the program.
There are 17 competitors in girls basketball, and 17 in girls swimming.
A proposal to make four single villas into two larger villas at the Woodcrest Retirement Center was approved Wednesday night at the monthly board of trustees meeting of the Adams Health Network (AHN).
Jim Compton, executive director of the United Way of Adams County (UWAC), has announced that the Eli Lilly Foundation in Indianapolis has approved the UWAC for a grant which will provide matching funds.
“During the present campaign to raise funds for 2011, all new donors’ gifts will be matched, dollar for dollar,” Compton said. “For those who were able to support the United Way last year, any increase will be matched dollar for dollar.
Dorathea Hoffman, 82, of Decatur, died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday in the nursing center at Woodcrest Retirement Community. She had been in the nursing center for three years.
She was born on April 10, 1928, in Fort Wayne to Herman and Bertha Scheumann Moellering.
She married Werner E. Hoffman on June 4, 1949, in Zion Lutheran Church (Friedheim); he passed away on May 31, 2004.
Julie Johnson, 51, of Bluffton, a former Decatur resident, died Wednesday at home,

Harold J. “Lucky” Siefring, 81, of rural Decatur, died on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
Harold was born on December 5, 1928, in Sharpsburg, Ohio, to John J. and Rose (Kramer) Siefring.
On August 23, 1950, he married Pauline M. Phlipot.
