Edward L. Bulmahn, 84, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2010, at Hamilton House in Fort Wayne.
Born in Rhea, Texas, Edward worked as a machinist with Phelps Dodge Corp. for 41 years.
He graduated from Monmouth High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II as a signalman third class.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, American Legion Post 43 at Decatur, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1540.
Dolores M. Duff, 88, of Willshire, Ohio, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in her son's residence at New Palestine, Indiana.
She was born on March 7, 1922, in Adams County to Vercil and Bertha Mae Burnett Hoblet.
She married Eugene J. Duff on December 21, 1940; he passed away on December 5, 2009 They had been married for 69 years.
Rick D. Voreis, 49, of Decatur, died on Sunday, October 17, 2010, in Adams Memorial Hospital.
Rick was born Adams County on June 9, 1961 to Richard D. Voreis and Connie S. (Henderson) Gluth.
He married Tamela DeBolt-Sharpe on July 1, 2006.
Rick was a lifelong resident of Adams County and worked for P & B Trucking in Decatur as a truck driver.
The Decatur Fire Department's Assistant Chief, JIm Hitchcock, said at Tuesday night's city council meeting that no determination has yet been made on whether to hold the Callithumpian Fireworks show here Saturday night.
Although a countywide burning ban was lifted by the county commissioners on Monday, it was "with reluctance" that the five fire chiefs in the county recommended dropping the ban, Hitchcock said.
An esteemed member of the Decatur Police Department is retiring effective January 1.
Ronny, the department's police dog for the last nine-plus years, is already on reduced duty due to hip dyslpasia, an ailment common to dogs. Jim Franze, the city's veteran K-9 officer, told Decatur City Council at its meeting Tuesday night that the dog's ailment first became noticeable a couple of years ago and has gotten considerably worse in the past year.
"This is not the first game Eastbrook wanted either," stated veteran Panthers' coach Jeff Adamson, noting the draw for the first round of the IHSAA State 3A football playoffs.
Eastbrook, rated No. 1 by the Associated Press, will be at Bob Worthman Stadium for the 7 p.m. game Friday in a rematch of the 34-0 surprise rout by the Panthers a year ago.

The Walmart store in Decatur and the Adams County Community Foundation have begun an effort to collect donations of food and other products to be sent to United States military personnel from Adams County in time for Christmas. The project is called Salute Our Soldiers (SOS).
The goal is to have enough items for local service members to be able to share them with others in their units.
Darrell Grice, 69, of Newburgh, Indiana, died Saturday.
He was born on October 26, 1940, in Celina, Ohio, to Frank and Lavone Grice and was reared in Decatur.
He graduated from Decatur High School.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie, whom he married 45 years ago; three children, Dell Grice, Janeen Paulson, and Jacqueline Grice; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Karen Roth of Florida; and his mother, who lives in Ossian.
Longtime county commissioner Ed Coil, a Republican, and Democratic newcomer, Robert Frock, will square off on November 2 for the Second District commissioner seat.
Both men talked at the candidate forum provided by the Decatur Rotary Club last week.
Coil pointed out that he is a Korean War veteran, a 35-year employee and official for the former Zollner Corp. in Fort Wayne, and for 10 years was the general manager of the Detroit Pistons.
Adams Central sophomore Nathan Barger won his first Kokomo Regional Singles Tourney match, pounding Zach Saylor of Peru 6-1, 6-1. However, Barger fell to Bishop Dwenger's Betrum Najev, 7-5, 6-2 in the title match.
Barger finished a sterling season at 22-2.
"Nathan played some of his best tennis this Saturday. Nejev was in the zone (for the finals match)," stated Adams Central Coach Michael Hower.
