Bellmont used a pair of second half goals to fashion a 2-0 victory over South Adams in the opening game of the IHSAA boys soccer sectional at the Bellmont field Thursday night.
Madison Schultz knocked down 11 kills in 19 attempts with only two errors, adding a solo block, a block-assist and three digs to lead Bellmont to a three-game sweep of Columbia City Thursday at the BHS court.
The win clinched the NHC championship for the Squaws, who went unbeaten in league play for the fifth straight season.
In six years under Craig Krull, the Squaws are now 41-1 in the NHC.
The Adams Central High School Band has qualified for the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) regional competition by virtue of receiving a “Gold” rating in the recent District Class D competition.
The judges also singled out the Squadron of Sound for one of the three top awards in its class. Adams Central received best “General Effect.”
An estimated 80 to 90 people attended a public hearing, dinner, and concert at the covered bridge near Ceylon on Thursday evening in perfect weather. Among the guests was Marsh Davis, president of Indiana Landmarks, who pointed out that the bridge is on the National Register of Historic Places.
