    If Bellmont is going to take out NorthWood Saturday in the first round of the Plymouth Volleyball Semistate, they're going to have to get a handle on Panthers' setter Kaci Heeter, who has to be one of the busiest volleyball players in the state.
    "We have to be aware of Heeter. She's a crafty kid who runs the offense and scores points for them," noted Bellmont coach Craig Krull.

    As the 2010 volleyball season winds down, Bellmont is definitely turning on the juice, and the inspired play on Tuesday against Western was proof of that.
    "It's the last chance for six seniors and another year is passing for the underclassmen. When the end is near, things seem to get more important and the best comes out of players," explains Bellmont's Craig Krull, who will take his girls to Plymouth Saturday in the renewel of the volleyball semistate.

Last sentence given out in Wells slaying

    The final sentencing in the Wells County slaying which involved four Decatur-area residents has been handed down.
    The last of those sentenced in Wells Circuit Court at Bluffton was Dustin H. Jackson, 23, who got a 25-year prison term for pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery resulting in serious injury. Judge David Hanselman gave Jackson 35 years, but suspended 10 years, and ordered him to spend five years on probation after being released from custody.

Bank campaign is turning blue to help others

    Officials of First Bank of Berne (FBB) have announced that the bank will sponsor a project from November 1-20 called the Blue Bag Food Drive to collect and deliver food to food banks in five area cities in which FBB has offices: Berne, Decatur, Bluffton, Portland, and Van Wert, Ohio.
    The bank is seeking donations of such nonperishable products as canned meats, canned vegetables, canned soup, cereal, peanut butter, canned fruit, canned tomato products, meal mixes, instant potatoes, and condiments (such as ketchup, mustard, etc.).
