Squaws enjoy Senior Night festivities; rout Jay in three

    Bellmont's volleyball team enjoyed Senior Night festivities Thursday and, by the way, the Squaws downed Jay County in three games, 25-15, 25-8, and 25-14.
    "That's something I started when I first started coaching here, to start the seniors and let them play in the first game. Considering what they've gone through, they deserve to play," stated head coach Criag Krull. It worked out Thursday that all six BHS seniors played that first game together.

Starfires’ Eric Isch makes the most of his cross country year

    When South Adams lines up at the Marion Boys Cross Country Regional Saturday, they'll be led by senior Eric Isch.
    A year ago, Isch wasn't on the team. Two years ago, Isch wasn't on this team, or any team.
    "He was working on the farm and on getting his pilot's license. Guess he got bored with that," stated South Adams coach Clint Anderson.
    Classmates, know Isch's potential, talked him into running track last spring, his first endeavor as a prep athlete.

Russell T. Stanley

    Russell T. Stanley, 82 of rural Ossian, died on October 13, 2010 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
    He was born on October 27, 1927, in Decatur to Ralph and Elsie (Schaefer) Stanley.
    Russell was a supervisor for Parker Hannifin.
    He is survived by three daughters, Joyce A. Stanley of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Anna Marie (Bob) Braeking of Santa Fe, Texas; and Cathy L. (Don) Crawford of Ossian; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

15 candidates at forum here

    Fifteen men and one woman who are candidates for state, county, and township offices in the November 2 election in Adams County addressed the public Thursday night in a forum held at Riverside Center.
    Some 40 to 50 people attended the forum provided by the Decatur Rotary Club, Adams Memorial Hospital, and First Bank of Berne.

3 sheriff candidates meet public

    The most local race in the November 2 election drawing the most attention is is for county sheriff, with three candidates.
    All three — Republican Shane Rekeweg, a fulltime deputy sheriff; Democrat Jon Fuhrman, a longtime reserve deputy sheriff; and Independent Terry Nevil, a fulltime deputy sheriff — spoke at Thursday night's Decatur Rotary Club candidate forum in Riverside Center.
